Properties
Secnidazole has a bactericidal effect against most anaerobic bacteria and many protozoa.
Indications for use:
intestinal amebiasis
Contraindications
-increased sensitivity to imidazole derivatives
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
During treatment, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
Side effects
-Some gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting, and a metallic taste in the mouth
Moderate leukopenia, which subsequently disappears.
-Rarely — dizziness, impaired coordination of movements, ataxia, paresthesia
Storage
Store at a temperature of 30 0 C, protected from light.
