Pancreatin is a complex of pancreatic enzymes that digests carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Contains mainly the enzymes amylase, protease and lipase. They convert starch to dextrins and simple sugars, proteins to peptones and oligopeptides, lipids to fatty acids and glycerol, respectively.
Papain, which is extracted from the fruit of
the Karik papaya, is a proteolytic enzyme that exhibits a wide range of hydrolytic activity, acting on peptides, amides, esters and thioesters, and especially on bonds containing basic amino acids, yielding lower molecular weight peptides. The intestinal coating ensures that the contents of the tablets are fully delivered to the intestines without being destroyed in the stomach.
