Composition

Each tablet contains:

Biperidene hydrochloride 2 mg

Properties

Anticholinergic drug of central action, reduces the activity of cholinergic neurons of the striatum (a structural component of the extrapyramidal system). Peripheral anticholinergic action is less pronounced. Reduces tremors and stiffness. Biperiden causes psychomotor agitation, autonomic disorders.

Indications

Parkinson’s syndrome in adults; extrapyram• symptoms in children and adults, caused b antipsychotics or similarly acting drugs.

Method of administration and dosage:

When prescribing the drug inside, treatment is usually started with small doses, gradually increasing them, depending on the therapeutic effect and side effects.

Contraindications

angle-closure glaucoma; gastrointestinal stenosis; megacolon; obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract; children under 3 years old; increased individual sensitivity to any component of the drug.

With caution, the drug should be prescribe for prostatic hyperplasia, urinary retention,

heart rhythm disturbances, elderly patients (especially in the presence of organic cerebral symptoms) and patients prone to epileptic seizures.

Side effects

From the side of the central nervous system: dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, increased fatigue, anxiety, confusion, euphoria, memory impairment and, in some cases, hallucinations, delirious disorders; nervousness, headache, insomnia, dyskinesia, ataxia, muscle cramps and speech impairment. With increased excitation of the nervous system, especially patients with impaired cerebral function, it i necessary to reduce the dose of the drug.

From the digestive system: dry mouth, enlarged salivary glands, constipation, epigastric discomfort, nausea.
