Tradename

blockium diu

Blokium diu

Compound:

Each tablet contains:

Atenolol 100 mg

Chlortalidone 25 mg

Auxiliary components:

corn starch povidone (polyvinylpyrrolidone), sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.

Properties

Combined antihypertensive drug, has a long-term hypotensive effect. The effect is due to the action of two components: a beta1-blocker (atenolol) and a diuretic (chlorthalidone).

Atenolol is a cardioselective beta1-blocker. Selectivity decreases with increasing dose. Atenol does not have intrinsic sympathomimetic and membrane stabilizing effects. Like other beta-blockers, it has a negative inotropic effect, slows down heart rate.

Chlorthalidone is a non-thiazide sulfonamide diuretic that enhances the excretion of sodium and chlorine. Increases excretion of potassium, magnesium and bicarbonate. The mechanism of antihypertensive action is probably related to sodium excretion. The combination of atenolol with diuretics is more effective than the use of each of the components separately.

Indications

Arterial hypertension.

Dosage and administration

The average dose of Blokium diu for adults is 1 tablet per day.

As a rule, the use of the drug at a dose corresponding to 100 mg of atenolol gives a good clinical effect. A subsequent increase in dose either does not lead to a further decrease in blood pressure, or reduces it very slightly. If necessary, an additional antihypertensive agent may be prescribed.

Contraindications

— severe bradycardia;

— cardiogenic shock;

— severe arterial hypotension;
