Properties

Antifungal drug. Clotrimazole, the active substance of Candistan spray, is an imidazole derivative and has a wide spectrum of antimycotic action. The mechanism of action of clotrimazole is associated with inhibition of the synthesis of ergosterol, which leads to a violation of the structure and functions of the cytoplasmic membrane of fungi. It has fungistatic or fungicidal activity, depending on the concentration in the focus of infection.

Candistan is active against dermatophytes, yeast-like, mold fungi, as well as causative agents of multi-colored lichen (Pityriasis vers.) and the causative agent of erythrasma. Along with antimycotic, it has antimicrobial activity against Trichomonas vaginalis, gram-positive (streptococci, staphylococci) and gram-negative microorganisms (Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis).

Indications

Fungal diseases of the skin caused by yeast-like fungi, mold fungi, as well as pathogens sensitive to clotrimazole:

— mycoses of the feet, hands, torso, skin folds;

pityriasis versicolor, erythrasma.

Dosage and administration

Apply externally. Spray a thin layer on the affected areas of the skin 2-3 times / day.

The duration of therapy is individual and depends on the severity and localization of the disease. To achieve complete recovery, spray treatment should not be stopped immediately after the disappearance of acute symptoms of inflammation or subjective complaints. The duration of therapy should be on average about 4 weeks.

Dermatomycosis is cured mainly within 3-4 weeks, erythrasma — 2-4 weeks, versicolor — 1-3 weeks. In case of fungal diseases of the skin of the legs, it is recommended to continue therapy for about 2 weeks after the relief of the symptoms of the disease.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or other components of the drug.

With caution: I trimester of pregnancy and lactation.
