Composition and form of release:

Nasal drops 0.05% contain 0.05 mg \ 1 ml of Xylometazoline hydrochloride.

Nasal drops 0.1% contain 0.1 mg \ 1 ml of Xylometazoline hydrochloride.

Nasal drops, plastic bottle.

Pharmachologic effect:

Xylometazoline has an alpha-adrenomimetic effect: it causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating edema and hyperemia of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Xylometazoline also reduces concomitant mucus hypersecretion and facilitates drainage of blocked nasal passages and thus improv nasal breathing in case of nasal congestion. Otrivin is well tolerated by patients with sensitive mucous membranes; its effect does not prevent mucus separation.

In therapeutic concentrations, the drug does not irritate the mucous membrane, does not cause hyperemia.

The effect occurs within a few minutes after application and lasts for 12 hours.

Indications

Acute respiratory diseases with symptoms of rhinitis;

Acute allergic rhinitis;

Pollinosis;

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline and other components of the drug;

Arterial hypertension;

Tachycardia;

Side effects

Determination of the frequency of adverse reactions: very often 210); often (21 / 100, <1/10); infrequently (21 / 1000, < 1/100); rarely ( 2 1/10 000, <1/1000); very rare (<1/10 000).

From the immune system: very rarely hypersensitivity reactions (angioedema, rash, itching).

From the nervous system: often — headache; rarely — insomnia, depression (with prolonged use in high doses).
