Composition
Each 1 ml of solution contains:
Lomefloxacin 3 mg
Auxiliary components:
glycerol (distilled glycerin), disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, sodium hydroxide, water for injection.
Properties
Antimicrobial bactericidal drug of a wide spectrum of action from the group of fluoroquinolones (subgroup of difluoroquinolones). Affects the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, which provides supercoiling, forms a complex with its tetramer (subunits of gyrase A2B2) and disrupts the transcription and replication of DNA, leading to the death of the microbial cell. It has a bactericidal effect.
β-lactamases produced by pathogens do not affect the activity of lomefloxacin.
Indications
— bacterial infections of the anterior part of the eye (conjunctivitis, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, including chlamydial etiology).
Method of administration and dosage:
Adults are prescribed 1 drop 2-3 times / day in the lower conjunctival sac for 7-9 days. At the beginning of treatment, more frequent use is necessary: 5 drops for 20 minutes (1 drop at an interval of 5 minutes) or 1 drop / hour for 6-10 hours.
Contraindications
-pregnancy;
-period of lactation (breastfeeding);
— children and adolescents up to 18 years old;
Side effects
Local reactions: burning sensation; with prolonged use — the development of a secondary fungal infection.
