Composition
Each powder capsule for inhalation contains:
Formoterol fumarate dihydrate 12 mcg
Auxiliary components:
lactose monohydrate.
Properties
Beta-adrenomimetic. Acts primarily on β2-adrenergic receptors. It has a bronchodilator effect, relieves and prevents bronchospasm. Inhibits the release of histamine, leukotrienes and prostaglandin D2 from mast cells, basophils and sensitized cells of the bronchoalveolar tree.
Indications
Prevention and treatment of violations of bronchial patency in patients with bronchial asthma as an adjunct to therapy with inhaled GCS; prevention of bronchospasm caused by exercise, cold air or inhalation of allergens as an adjunct to inhaled GCS therapy; prevention and treatment of bronchial obstruction disorders in patients with COPD.
Method of administration and dosage:
Applied by inhalation. The dosage regimen is set individually, depending on the indications, the severity of the disease, the patient’s age and the dosage form used.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to formoterol or other beta-adrenergic agonists; children’s age — depending on the dosage form; period of breastfeeding.
Precautionary measures:
Formoterol is not intended for the relief of acute attacks of bronchial asthma.
Side effects
From the nervous system: often — tremor, headache; infrequently — dizziness, dysgeusia.
From the respiratory system: often — cough; infrequently — oropharyngeal irritation.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: infrequently — rash, hyperhidrosis.
