Properties
Histamine H1 receptor blocker. It has an anti-allergic effect, reduces the effects of exudation. When taken intramuscularly, the therapeutic effect occurs within 1 hour and lasts up to 24 hours.
Indications
Pollinosis (hay fever), allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis; neurodermatitis; skin itching of various etiologies; Quincke’s edema, urticaria, insect bites, medicinal dermatitis, thermal burns of the 1st degree; general malaise due to radiation therapy.
Dosage and administration
The average single dose for i / m administration for adults and adolescents is 45.5 mg, the frequency of administration is 1-2 times / day.
The average single dose for children aged 1-2 years is 7.5 mg, 4-12 years — 15 mg. Multiplicity of reception — 2-3 times / day.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to pheniramine; prostatic hypertrophy, angle-closure glaucoma.
Precautionary measures:
During the period of treatment, observation by an ophthalmologist is necessary.
Side effects
Rarely: a decrease in the rate of psychomotor reactions, fatigue, drowsiness, dry mouth, dyspeptic symptoms, tachycardia, urinary retention, allergic reactions, dermatitis, increased intraocular pressure in patients with angle-closure glaucoma; in some cases, especially in children, when used in a high dose, a feeling of anxiety, agitation, hallucinations, confusion is possible.
