Properties
Ketorolac is an NSAID that has a pronounced analgesic (analgesic) effect, also has an anti-inflammatory and moderate antipyretic effect.
The mechanism of action is associated with non-selective inhibition of the activity of the enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, mainly in peripheral tissues, which results in inhibition of the biosynthesis of prostanglandins — modulators of pain sensitivity, inflammation and thermoregulation. Ketorolac is a racemic mixture of R (+) and S (-) — enantiomers, while the analgesic (analgesic) effect is due to the S (-) — enantiomer.
Ketorolac does not affect opioid receptors, does not depress respiration, does not cause drug dependence, does not have a sedative and anxiolytic effect.
Indications
Pain syndrome of severe and moderate severity: trauma, toothache, pain in the postoperative period, cancer, myalgia, arthralgia, neuralgia, sciatica, dislocations, sprains, rheumatic diseases.
Designed for symptomatic therapy, reducing pain and inflammation at the time of use, does not affect the progression of the disease.

Contraindications
History of erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, impaired renal function (serum creatinine level above 442 μmol / l), hypovolemia, dehydration, asthma, bronchospasm, blood clotting disorders, high risk of postoperative bleeding, the possibility or presence of gastrointestinal and / or craniocerebral hemorrhage and disorders of hemostasis, the period of pregnancy and lactation, age less than 16 years, increased individual sensitivity to ketorolac and other NSAIDs.
Precautionary measures:
Care must be taken when prescribing the drug to patients over the age of 65, patients with impaired liver and kidney function, chronic heart failure, hypertension, asthma and broncho-obstructive syndrome, as well as during activities requiring increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
Side effects
From the digestive tract: dyspepsia, nausea, pain in the epigastric region, in isolated cases — flatulence, belching, vomiting, constipation, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, liver dysfunction.
From the side of the central nervous system: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, depression.
From the urinary system: increased urination, oliguria, hematuria.
