Properties

Pharmacological action — antibacterial.

Effective against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, Klebsiella, Proteus, Escherichia coli; does not affect the growth of enterococci and enterobacteria. It has a bactericidal (bacteriolytic) effect, disrupting the synthesis of peptidoglycan of the cell wall. Rapidly absorbed after oral administration. The bactericidal concentration is maintained in the blood for 12 hours; penetrates well into all organs and body fluids, with the exception of cerebrospinal fluid and brain tissue. 90% is excreted in the urine unchanged within 20-22 hours.

Indications

Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to cefadroxil, including: diseases of the urinary tract, upper and lower respiratory tract, skin, soft tissues, bones.

Dosage and administration

Set individually, taking into account the severity of the course and localization of the infection, the sensitivity of the pathogen. When taken orally in adults and children weighing more than 40 kg, an average dose of 1-2 g / day is used in 1-2 doses. Children weighing less than 40 kg — 25-50 mg / kg / day (preferably in the form of a suspension) in 1-2 doses. The course of treatment is 7-14 days. The minimum duration of treatment for infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus is 10 days.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.

Precautionary measures:

In patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins, allergic reactions to cephalosporin antibiotics are possible.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible (urticaria, pruritus, eosinophilia; in isolated cases — Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic shock); rarely — nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, candidiasis, headache, dizziness; in some cases — changes in the picture of peripheral blood (reversible leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia).
