Each gram of ointment contains:

calcipotriol 50 mcg

Auxiliary components:

liquid paraffin, white soft paraffin, α-tocopherol, macrogol stearate, propylene glycol, water.

Properties

Synthetic analogue of the most active metabolite of natural vitamin D3. It causes a dose-dependent inhibition of keratinocyte proliferation (significantly increased in patients with psoriasis) and accelerates their morphological differentiation. It has little effect on calcium metabolism in the body. It is an inhibitor of T-lymphocyte activation caused by interleukin 1.

Indications

Psoriasis.

Dosage and administration

Apply externally. Apply to the affected areas of the skin 2 times / day. The dose and duration of treatment are set individually, depending on the age and clinical situation.

The maximum daily dose for adults is 15 g, weekly — 100 g.

The maximum dose per week for children over the age of 12 is 56 grams.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to calcipotriol; diseases accompanied by impaired calcium metabolism; childhood.

Precautionary measures:

Caution should be used for hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, vitamin D hypervitaminosis, history of nephrolithiasis, acute renal and hepatic failure; in patients over the age of 65 years.

Side effects

Allergic reactions: very rarely — urticaria, angioedema.

From the side of metabolism: very rarely — hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria.

From the skin and subcutaneous tissues: often — skin irritation, rash (scaly, erythematous, maculo-papular, pustular, bullous), burning sensation, dryness and peeling of the skin, itching, erythema; infrequently — exacerbation of the course of psoriasis, eczema, contact dermatitis; very rarely — reversible hyperpigmentation, reversible depigmentation, reversible development of photosensitivity, periorbital edema or swelling of the face.
