Properties

Miconazole combines antifungal activity against dermatophytes (Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis), yeasts (Candida albicans, Candida glabrata and other Candida species) and various other fungi (Malassezia furtur, Aspergilus niger, Penicillium crustaceum ) with antibacterial activity against certain Gram-positive bacteria. Miconazole inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol in fungi and changes the composition of other lipid components in the membrane, which leads to necrosis of fungal cells. Miconazole very quickly eliminates the itching that often accompanies infections caused by yeast and dermatophytes. Does not change the composition of the microflora and the pH of the vagina.

Indications

In a single dose, it is used in the treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis. The drug is used for fungal vaginal infections, especially those caused by Candida spp., As well as mixed infections caused by fungi and gram-positive bacteria (staphylococci, streptococci and myco cocci, contributing to the development of a secondary infection).

Dosage and administration

The drug is administered intravaginally, once in the treatment of vaginal candidiasis.

1 vaginal ovule is administered once at bedtime. Do not use without doctor’s prescription.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Side effects
