Properties

Hepatoprotective agent of plant origin. Contains dry extract of milk thistle fruit (Silybum Marianum (L.) Gaertn.) — the equivalent of silymarin, which is the sum of flavolignans: silibinin (silybin), isosilibinin, silydianin and silicristin. It has a hepatoprotective and antitoxic effect. The therapeutic effect is due to the effect on the metabolism of hepatocytes. It activates the synthesis of proteins and enzymes in hepatocytes, has a stabilizing effect on the membrane of hepatocytes, inhibits the penetration of toxins into liver cells, inhibits dystrophic and potentiates liver regenerative processes.

Indications

Toxic liver damage, chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver (as part of complex therapy), after hepatitis. As a means of prevention for chronic intoxication (including professional), long-term use of drugs and alcohol.

Dosage and administration

inside. The dose, method and schedule of application, duration of therapy is determined individually, depending on the indications, the clinical situation, the age of the patient and the dosage form used.

On average, take 1 capsule 3 times a day.

In chronic diseases, it is advisable to conduct repeated courses of treatment after 1-3 months.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to silibinin; children’s age up to 12 years; pregnancy, breastfeeding period.

Precautionary measures:

With the combined use of silymarin with oral contraceptives and drugs that are used in HRT, it is possible to reduce the effects of the latter.

Side effects

Rarely: laxative effect, allergic reactions.
