Inactive ingredients:

Ethanol absolute, HFA 134a

Properties

This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing the swelling of the airways in the lungs to make breathing easier.This medication must be used regularly to prevent breathing problems (attacks of wheezing/shortness of breath). It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve an asthma attack. If an attack occurs, use your quick-relief inhaler as prescribed.

Indications

Beclomethasone is used to prevent and control symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by asthma.

Dosage and administration

The aerosol spray is inhaled through the mouth into the lungs. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

Adults and elderly: the usual starting dose is one puff 100 mcg twice daily. In severe cases this may be increased to 2 to 3 puffs daily (400 mcg to 600 mcg).

Children: the usual starting dose is 100 mcg twice daily. Depending on the severity of asthma , the daily dose may be increased up to 400 mcg administered in two to four divided doses.

Side effects

Dry/irritated throat, hoarseness, or coughing may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. A bad taste in the mouth or voice changes may also occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Contraindications

active tuberculosis

inactive tuberculosis

herpes simplex infection of the eye

Storage

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from frost or direct sunlight.
